E-management and employee performance at Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) 2019-2021
Abstract
This research paper was written from the review of secondary data and the key informant interviews that aim to examine the effectiveness of e-management on employee performance at IDRC. It was guided by three objectives: to understand the role of e-management in managing employee performance; to explore experiences of employees in using e-management to improve their productivity, and last but not least to establish factors affecting the adaptation of e-management in employee performance. Four key informants were interviewed about the effectiveness of e-management on employee performance at IDRC. It was found out that e-management is important in controlling work schedules, monitoring the performance and productivity of the employees at workplace and saves a lot of time. It was also noted that the role of e-management in employee productivity is invaluable in facilitating their roles, as well as motivating them and ensuring job satisfaction. More still, it was revealed that support supervision, organizational culture of the internet, individual adaptability, clear communication, employee feedback and encouraging team work are crucial factors affecting the ability of the employees to adopt and adapt to e-management. It was therefore recommended that management conducts assessment to understand the experiences of employees, invests more in cyber security and insurance of office equipment that staff use while at home as well as revive the counselling services to continuously support staff through the hard times.
