dc.description.abstractThe Project Report highlights a skimpy overview of the procurement process of the contractor and the scope of works. The scope of works comprised of the Construction of a 3 storey Office building of approximate area of 2300 square meters, a 2 storey Workshop Block with a mezzanine floor, a 2 storey Warehouse Block with mezzanine floor of area 500 square meters and 1500 square meters respectively, a 2 storey Training Block of area 3600 square meters, Powerhouse, Spray Room, Gate House and Boundary Wall of approximately 300 linear meters with associated External Works. The Project Management techniques and construction methodologies that were used and/or observed by the author while with the contractor’s team while executing the project are detailed in this report. The main construction activities carried out off and on site for the construction works from the start to the end of the project were examined. The project was administered using formal contract documents for example: Advance Payment Guarantee, Performance Guarantee, and Insurance Bonds. The site was managed and maintained by a competent team led by the contractor’s Project Manager from site possession and project commencement through mobilization and project planning and execution. The construction methods and methodologies used started with the sub-structure works of excavation through superstructure to finishes and hand over. By the time of writing this report the project was approximately 60% overall progress, the project management principles discussed in depth are quality control, cost, time, and Human resources. The circumstances under which the project was fast tracked, how the contractor made applications for payments are also explained in detail. The major challenge was the global pandemic of the novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19) which hit the whole world. This compelled the Uganda Government to institute a total lockdown coupled with curfew to combat its widespread. The report concludes with the steps that were performed to complete the project successfully. Recommendations have been listed that can be adopted for project management to be improved in the Ugandan construction industry.en_US
