Reducing poverty in Uganda is one of the agendas of the National Development Plan III and this should be achieved by 2025. However, poverty in Uganda is still high and the situation is worse at regional level and by gender. This study examines the gender dimensions of poverty in Uganda. Specifically, the study investigates the effect of the gender of the household head on poverty in Uganda and examines whether the determinants of poverty in Uganda differ by gender of the household head. The study uses the 2020 Uganda National Household Survey data and employs a Logit Model. The regression results reveal that Poverty is significantly and positively associated with the female household head, household size, COVID-19, rural location, and regions of west, east, and north in Uganda. On the other hand, poverty is significantly and negatively associated with age of the respondent, being single and transfers. The study recommends for an increase in access to education for the girl child as a way of leveraging females for the fight against household poverty Keywords: Poverty, Gender, Logit.en_US
