This study investigates the topic: Systematic Adult Catechesis: A Dynamic Force for Mature Christian Discipleship in Kinoni Parish in Light of General Directory for Catechesis. It mainly intends to establish how systematic adult catechesis can empower adult Catholics to become mature Christian disciples and to identify obstacles to and catechetical processes for systematic adult catechesis that empowers mature Christian disciples. This is in relation to the problem of the gap that exists between the vision of the Church’s Magisterium regarding the formation of adult Catholics by means of systematic adult catechesis for the vocation of mature Christian discipleship and the practice and effectiveness of systematic adult catechesis in Kinoni Parish. The study specifically seeks to: Find out the meaning, purpose, and reasons for systematic adult catechesis; identify the qualities of mature Christian disciples; look into the role of systematic adult catechesis in forming mature Christian disciples; identify catechetical processes for systematic adult catechesis that empowers mature Christian disciples; discover obstacles to effective systematic adult catechesis and how they can be addressed; and identify other processes that foster mature Christian discipleship. The necessary information in relation to these objectives is obtained by reviewing GDC and related literature and by means of interviews, questionnaires, observation, and documentary analysis. In the final analysis, the research establishes that systematic adult catechesis that empowers mature Christian disciples is one that presents and explores the essential elements of Catholic doctrine and practice and the experience of adult Catholics in a systematic, organic, comprehensive, reflective, integral, and adapted way and in a way that engages the whole person and that allows full participation of individual persons and the entire Christian community through representatives. As a process, systematic adult catechesis is programmed by means of collaborative efforts to reach a precise goal, which ultimately is the promotion of adult mature faith characterized by personal and loving relationship with Jesus Christ; commitment to knowing and following the way of Christ; engagement in the life and activities of the Christian community; commitment to services of others; ability to defend the Catholic faith rationally; capacity of Christian discernment in various situations; and care for the created world. This goal-oriented program is concretized in an organizational structure that establishes in an opportune manner instruments, times, places, content, methodological approaches, expertise, leadership, and material resourcesen_US
