Effectiveness of Universal Primary Education (UPE) on education of children with disabilities Munyonyo Primary School
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to analyse the effectiveness of universal primary Education on education of children with disabilities at Munyonyo Primary School Kampala District. The study was guided by the following objectives: to assess the effectiveness of providing teaching facilities to children with disabilities in UPE at Munyonyo Primary School, to assess the existence of teachers with skills of teaching or handling children with disabilities in UPE at Munyonyo Primary School and to assess the effectiveness of providing amenities to children with disabilities in UPE at Munyonyo Primary School.
The study adopted a cross-sectional evaluative survey design to determine the effectiveness of the universal primary education on education of children with disabilities at Munyonyo Primary School. The unit of analysis was Munyonyo Primary School, and the units of inquiry were pupils and teachers at Munyonyo Primary School.
The study established that the effectiveness of universal primary education on education of children with disabilities at Munyonyo Primary School is ineffective, as there is no effectiveness of providing teaching facilities to children with disabilities, there is no existence of teachers with skills of teaching or handling children with disabilities and there is non effectiveness of providing amenities for children with disabilities.
The study recommended that Government should provide teaching facilities to children with disabilities at Munyonyo Primary School. The study also recommended that all staff at Munyonyo Primary School should be given training on teaching and handling children with disabilities. Finally, the study recommended that Government should provide amenities for children with disabilities and provide more funds to Munyonyo Primary School to acquire the amenities.
