    Abstract
    Construction projects regularly involve a variety of skills that originate from a diversity of professionals, specialists, and suppliers. Successful implementation of a construction project can only be achieved if good project management practices and systems are put in place and allowed to work. This report offers a brief review of construction and project management practices that the author participated in as the consultant clerk of works during the construction of the proposed commercial building on Plot No. 45 Kiira Road, Kamwokya, Kampala District. The report focuses on construction project management and contract administration but also details the activities carried out during project implementation. Chapter One lays out project particulars, briefly discussing the background of the project, the scope, the funders, consultants, and other stakeholders. It also describes the organization and company details Chapter Two discusses the Project Procurement and Front End Details, and procedures undertaken during the execution stage of the project. The different tools and techniques used in the actual construction that took place on site are discussed in this chapter right from the Basement and reinforced concrete frame to finishes. Chapter Three discusses the Project Acquisition and Execution used during the implementation of this contract. The different project management knowledge areas explored in the context of the project, with particular emphasis accorded to scope, cost, quality, procurement, and communication management. Chapters Four, Five, and Six detail the Limitations, Challenges, Lessons Learned, Conclusions, and Recommendations drawn by the author about the execution of the proposed commercial building on Plot No. 45 Kiira Road, Kamwokya, Kampala District based on the experiences drawn during his participation in this project. Additionally, the author makes recommendations on how this can be successfully implemented, going forward, based on the lessons learned during the internship.
