Evaluation of effectiveness of the procurement process in the primary schools: A case study of Serere District Local Government
Abstract
This study was guided by three specific objectives namely; to evaluate the effectiveness of the procurement planning in Primary Schools. To evaluate the effectiveness of the Supplier evaluation and Contract award in Primary school. To assess the effectiveness of procurement monitoring in Primary Schools.
The researcher adopted a cross-sectional research design. Questionnaires were used for data collection. The population for the study comprised of head teachers, finance and school management committee member’s non-teaching staff selected from primary schools in Serere district local government. A sample size of 66 respondents was used and a response of 51 was realized, representing 73.3% of the targeted sample size was realized. Statistical analysis was carried out and the results indicated that the procurement process n the primary school was effectively conducted.
In line with the results of the study, it can be concluded that the procurement process in the schools can be enhanced through capacity building, sensitization, proper planning, and stakeholder involvement. Finally, there is a need to study areas in the procurement process like contract and resource management in the schools.
