dc.description.abstract | The thrust of this study is hinged on the investigation of three major issues; the influence of ethnicity on the multiparty politics of Kampala District, the influence of ethnicity on the political ideologies of Kampala District and also, the influence of ethnicity on the state elections of Kampala District. A cross- sectional survey research design was used in the study, and the focus of the study was put on the political leaders and their cabinet members, and the elite voters in Kampala Central Division. The sample population which was used included 27 political leaders, 130 cabinet members who were selected using purposive sampling and 227 elite voters who were randomly selected. The researcher used Chi-Square test for independence to analyse the data which was collected. The study findings showed that, ethnicity has a significant influence on multiparty politics of Kampala District. The study also showed that, there is a significant influence of ethnicity on the political ideologies of Kampala District. The findings also revealed that, there is no significant influence of ethnicity on Kampala District elections. Three types of recommendations were made. The first one dealt with leaders of political parties to design national political objectives for their parties, the second recommendation dealt with unity of political parties and the formation of national based ideologies, the third dealt with political party leaders and their cabinet members to serve all people's interests, while the last one dealt with the maintenance of Kampala District elections. | en_US |
